The stock Teflon wear plate pops out and causes your vehicle to be hard to shift, and the ATV to driveS slowly on its own.
The phenomenon occurred with the 1000 cc ATV engines, with the 850 cc models was only the wear within 1200-1800 miles but rarely noticed, because no abrupt misbehavior was felt!
Jay Parts has the solution to this with the Variomatic kit made of 7075 aluminum and a special POM compound that affects the "slipstick effect". Thus we have developed a very low wear design.
The kit has been successfully tested in 8 vehicles for more than 5000 miles in all applications!
Also it was tested by 2 vehicles in racing successfully.
Made in Europe.
WORKS WITH THE FOLLOWING MODELS
Polaris Scrambler 850/1000 2013 -
Polaris Sportsman 550/850/1000 2011 -
Polaris Sportsman Touring 850/1000 2011 -
To open the screw in the middle of the upper variomatic you need a ring wrench or a ratchet size 15 (turn to the left to open). To fix the clutch you can use the hook wrench of the tool kit. If you use a screwdriver, be careful not to scratch or damage something.
When removing the screw, make sure that you have all the washers on the screw. Keep in mind that there were models where the belt alignment was also adjusted with 4 washers.
When mounting the variomatic kit, make sure that the sliding surface of the variomatic – where the kit rests – is not damaged and free of grease.
If you have a model with 4 small washers, please add a washer to the variomatic kit (crossed out photo with 3 washers) on the side of the POM5 washer (black) to optimize the belt alignment.
When tightening the upper variomatic, tighten the central screw (15 mm ring wrench or ratchet) with 65 NM (originally we used blue Loctite thread locker).
HOW DO I KNOW THE CORRECT BELT ALIGNMENT?
When the upper variomatic does not rotate with the lower variomatic when the engine is running.
HOW DO I ADJUST THE BELT ALIGNMENT?
The small washers are used to distance the upper variomatic so that the belt runs freely (belt alignment). It can be depending on the wear of the variomatic and or belt that you need all the washers.
HOW DO I CHECK THIS?
Hold the cover of the variomatic box on the variomatic and look with running engine into the ventilation opening whether the upper variomatic turns in the N or P gear.
